Full-Service Podcast Production Ins and Outs

Ins and outs of podcast production

Full-service podcast production is one of the areas we are passionate about at MMMG.

Business podcast production is actually one of the reasons the company was started.

One of our first clients was virtual and in-person production. We have worked with them on nearly 100 episodes! We have insights for you if you are looking for the ins and outs of podcasting and podcast production in 2024.

What does a podcast production company do?

As a podcast producer, we can take care of everything from start to finish. How we serve each client varies depending on their team’s expertise and capacity to support the podcast.

We work with clients who record 100% virtually and others who record on-site. Clients also have the option to include video or capture/produce an audio-only podcast as well.

If you haven’t set up your podcast and are just getting started, we will walk you through what you’ll need to decide before you get started. Everything from whether to have a solocast or guests, the length, flow and focus. All important aspects of a successful podcast.

What is podcast production?

When you decide to start a podcast, you are either filled with excitement or dread, depending on whether it was your idea to start a podcast or if you are the person in charge of making someone else’s idea come true. Either way, a podcast can be a simple media avenue or an impactful brand-building marketing tool.

Recording the podcast is only one step. In addition to recording, you’ll need to edit. We do not recommend removing every um, ah and awkward stumble, but it’s important to clean up the conversation flow. Make sure the audio levels are mixed properly and remove interruptions.

Additionally, you’ll want to finish the episode with music. The music helps you introduce and wrap up the session, and it can help with transitions. The music is meant to enhance the listening experience, not distract, so it’s important to pick the right tunes for your podcast.

Now you’ve got a produced podcast episode, but there’s more to do. This includes show notes, platform distribution, website posting and marketing campaign integration.

Do you need a production company for a podcast?

We are big supporters of podcasters in all shapes and forms. If you have the ability to do all the steps in-house, we get it, do what makes sense! If you know that you want to create or build your podcast, but can’t take on all the steps, that’s when it makes sense to bring on a production company to help.

We will walk you through all the steps needed to produce the podcast and divide up responsibilities.

Dos and Don’ts of Business Podcast Production

As we look ahead to 2024, we’ve put together what is in and out for podcasting. It’s a great platform with lots of opportunities — who is ready to jump in and see if it’s a fit for their company?

Ins:

  • Have an engaging host with great interview skills

  • Build opportunities for your listeners to engage

  • Integrate the podcast into an overall marketing strategy

Outs:

  • Create a podcast for podcast's sake and not have a laser focus

  • Expect to take more of your listeners’ time than they have available

  • Just use podcasting as another advertising platform without providing valuable information for your listeners

If you are interested in finding a partner to produce your podcast or exploring the value of a podcast in your marketing strategy, get in touch with us, and we can introduce you to the MMMG podcast production team.
