How can AI Spark Smarter and More Authentic Content?
May 1, 2026Recording is just the beginning. A successful business podcast requires strategy, production, promotion and the right partner behind every episode.
Are you considering starting a podcast, or have you been charged with it by your boss but aren’t sure where to turn? Hosting your own podcast is an excellent way to amplify your brand, but there’s more to creating a successful podcast than hitting record.
Taking the time to do it right will launch your podcast on the right track. The MMMG team is passionate about exactly that. In fact, we started our business with podcast production.
One of our very first clients hosted an industry podcast. We produced more than 200 episodes through virtual and in-person recording over five years. Our full-service team supported everything, including recording, audio mixing, editing, host prep, interview coaching and on-site live support during recording.
What is podcast production?
Let’s start with the basics. Once you’ve decided a podcast is the right marketing tool for your brand, you need to consider the full scope of what it takes to make it happen.
- Recording: Some podcasts are recorded 100% virtually, while others are in-person. You’ll also need to consider whether your podcast should be audio-only or have a video component. Recording audio and video adds complexity but enhances the finished product.
- Format: Will you do a solo cast with a single speaker, or host guests for interviews?
- Editing: We do not recommend removing every “um,” “ah” and awkward stumble, but it’s important to clean up the conversation flow. A professional editor will also help ensure that the audio levels are properly mixed and that distracting interruptions are removed.
- Music: Adding appropriate music to each episode helps enhance the listening experience, transition between segments or subjects, and open and close your podcast consistently.
- Finishing details: Once everything is wrapped, you’ll need to create show notes, add bios and get your finished product uploaded to the appropriate distribution channels.
- Promotion: You can produce the best podcast ever on the most interesting subject matter, but if you don’t tell anyone about it, the listeners won’t come.
This all takes time, and you need to consider your team’s capacity to deliver the whole package.
Do you need a production partner for your podcast?
Mastering podcast production takes time. Consider whether you have the capacity to tackle some or all of these tasks in-house. Plan beyond a single episode to get started and ensure your team is prepared to produce an entire season.

You may be able to create the content and interview strategy plus the recording, but have no capacity to edit and package your podcast. Or, your recording and editing capabilities may be limited, but you can coordinate all of the logistics to deliver a stellar series of content.
That’s where a podcast production company comes into play. After working with clients on a variety of podcast formats, we’ve mastered these steps. Whether you need someone to handle pieces of the process or a podcast production company to tackle the entire process, we have the experience to meet your needs.
We can work with your in-house teams to divide the responsibilities as an ongoing partner to produce a top-notch podcast or provide a turnkey solution that’s right for you.
Dos and don’ts of business podcast production
With the right strategy, a podcast can be an excellent platform to elevate your organization’s or leaders’ voices. Here are some dos and don’ts:
Do:
- Have an engaging host with great interview skills.
- Consider opportunities for your listeners to engage.
- Integrate the podcast into an overall marketing strategy.
Don’t:
- Begin a podcast without a specific strategy in place.
- Let your host (or topics) ramble. Your listeners’ time is valuable.
- Miss the opportunity to educate and inform your listeners with more than a sales pitch.
